| Ma première expérience de la scène lyrique date de la fin des années 1950. My first experience of the operatic stage took place at the end of the 1950s. This was in Firminy on the Place du Breuil, where I sang in the children's chorus in Carmen ("Avec la garde montante"). Later, during my fist long stay in England, I joined the Newark Operatic Society in Newark-on-Trent where I used to teach at the Magnus Grammar School. When I came back to St Etienne, my singing teacher, Pierrette Thévenon, and my music teacher, Simone Tricon, encouraged me to audition for the chorus at Saint Etienne Opera House. I got in as a second tenor. Some of the members of the chorus were also members of an operatic company in Roanne which I also joined. |
